I know we haven't really been here a full week yet, buuuut it feels like it. Orientation is officially over and jobs begin at 7 am. The first day of McDonald's will be one to remember.
Although many times we study the word and pray, really hoping we are living out Christ centered lives, I often don't reflect on how I actually show love to others. As I was reading through Romans I came across a passage in 12:9-21 that describes the true marks of a christian. I evaluated how I thought I was doing with them and didn't want to read any further because I knew I was doing a poor job on even the first verse! That is not to say I was genuinely NICE to people (most of the time), but I sure didn't go out of my way to love on others. For the past few days I have been focusing and praying on verse 9 "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil. Hold fast to what is good." Just that requires so much prayer that I figured I needed to take this slow and really let the Lord transform me this summer, after all I will need a lot of love for those people at McDs! Already i find myself calling on the Lord for help in loving people on project, even if we don't have similar personalities and really treating them as an individual that I WANT to get to know.
Each week or so I will be praying about a specific verse in this passage to strengthen my own Christian walk and I encourage you to do the same. That is this weeks verse, so take time to pray and be intentional in your relationships and ask God to direct you in ways you can show more genuine love to others. Good luck :)
I find that a good test of these verses happens when it gets very busy and you are short some coworkers.
ReplyDeletethankfully we haven't been short any coworkers yet! We are pretty blessed to be at this McDonald's since it is the 8th busiest out of the 32 McDonald's in Charleston. We always seem to have plenty of workers!
